A. Dividing a member

In a stand-alone project the defined members can be divided into more intermediate points using the Divide member special tool that appears at the lower part of the Members page when the selected member has a length greater than 0.

When this tool is selected, the following dialog window is displayed:

The tool provides the following division methods:

Division by nodes, by distances and custom division. Each method is detailed in the following text.

B. Divide by nodes

When this division method is selected, the numerical edit at the right part of the windows is activated. The count of nodes to insert in the member can be entered there, either numerically or by using the spin button.

When the node count is entered, the Apply button is activated. When the Apply button is pressed, a warning message is displayed explaining that by applying the new division, any existing internal points loading case data for this member will be deleted.

If the user chooses to apply the changes, the Divisions table will list all the internal points positions created by the new division.

If the user is satisfied with the result, he can close the tool window.

C. Divide by distance

When this division method is selected, the numerical edit at the right part of the windows is activated. The distance to divide by can be entered there in the currently selected units.

When a distance is entered it is verified that it can fit in the member length and the Apply button is activated accordingly. When the Apply button is pressed, a warning message is displayed explaining that by applying the new division, any existing internal points loading case data for this member will be deleted.

D. Custom division

When this division method is selected, the Add button is activated and a new division entry can be added to the Divisions table.

The user can edit the division entry data either by changing the length percentage or the absolute length value. When the data entered correctly fits inside the member length, the buttons Revert and Apply are activated.

Using the Revert button, the user can revert to the last applied division. Using the Remove button the user can remove the selected division entry from the Division table.
