PACT is software for the computation of the dynamic interaction between a train crossing a bridge and the bridge. PACT operates as a pre and post processor for the FEA program ANSYS which acts as a solver. The modal and transient dynamic capabilities of ANSYS are used to automatically calculate loading history induced by prescribed train configurations and velocities. PACT has a library of currently operational trains in Europe, in which the user can also add any other train configuration. PACT simulates everything as a system of masses, springs and dampers and computes the second order differential equations governing the dynamic behavior of the vehicles of the train.
